Watch 360° video Van Gogh’s five sunflowers interactive exhibition on Facebook Live

For the first time ever, Vincent Van Gogh’s five sunflower paintings are united in a virtual gallery on Facebook. Visualise in partnership with Facebook, create an online virtual 360° exhibition of Vincent van Gogh’s five Sunflower paintings. 


In real life, the five sunflower paintings are situated in galleries across three continent, from the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Neue Pinakothek in Munich and the Seiji Togo Memorial Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art, Tokyo.


For the interactive exhibition, high-resolution scans were made for each painting. Than 3D models of the frames were created, exact replicas of the real paintings. After this, the five painting could be visited in a virtual 360° video tour with Oculus Mobile headset (aka Gear VR) via a Facebook app. 


Tha viewer could choose which painting he wants to look and find more information beside each painting. 

The digital exhibition is narrating by Willem van Gogh, the great-grandson of Theo, brother of Vincent van Gogh. “Rather like the ‘Mona Lisa’ and ‘The Night Watch’, Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’ are works of art that continue to intrigue and inspire, perhaps into eternity. Indeed, each generation forges a fresh, highly personal bind with them. The virtual gallery and live stream now provide a novel way for art lovers, young and old, to admire these magnificent masterpieces, from all corners of the globe. I think this is fantastic" said Willem van Gogh.
